The problem noticed – poor nutrition and lack of access to high quality drinking water.

On April 15, the Comrat Representation of the People’s Advocate’s Office found out from the information distributed by the “www.nokta.md” portal about the complaints of patients from the infectious diseases department in Comrat, about the poor nutrition and lack of access to high quality drinking water.

Reaction of the Office of the People’s Advocate:

The Head of the Representation, Svetlana Mironova, contacted by phone the head of the Main Department of Health, Social Protection and Family of the ATU of Gagauzia, S. Duleva, who confirmed the existence of problems related to ensuring adequate nutrition within the medical institution concerned. Following the intervention of the PAO representative, the hospital administration took immediate measures to improve the situation, by purchasing tea, baguettes, bottled water. On the same day, April 15, the decision was made to dismiss the kitchen workers and hire other employees. The head of the Main Department for Health, Social Protection and Family of the ATU from Gagauzia, ensured the Representation of the People’s Advocate Office from Comrat, that the food problem will be solved in the near future.

With regard to complaints about water supply, it was found that access to water is constantly ensured, as each room has a sink with cold water. This water is used for sanitary purposes, the patients are being supplied with bottled drinking water. The Comrat representative of the People’s Advocate’s Office will continue to monitor the situation at the hospital in Comrat.
